On Saturday, July 19, the Rajasthan government issued transfer orders for 142 officers from the Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS), 91 officers from the Indian Police Service (IPS), and 12 officers from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) as part of a massive administrative overhaul. The Department of Personnel issued the directives, which represent a significant reorganization of the state's police and civil administration.

Numerous senior positions were affected by the reorganization, especially in the police department. Thirty districts saw the reassignment of Inspector Generals (IGs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs). Key ranges such as Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur, Bikaner, Ajmer, and Bharatpur were assigned senior officers. The goal of these adjustments is to improve public administration and law enforcement in key areas of the state.

The appointment of Om Prakash, the former IG of Bikaner Range, as Commissioner of Police in Jodhpur is one of the most significant changes. Ravi Dutt Gaur, who was in charge of the Kota Range, has been moved to the Jaipur Police Headquarters, and Rahul Prakash has been appointed IG of the Jaipur Range. The IG of Udaipur Range will now be Gaurav Srivastava, who was in charge of the Chief Minister's protection and watchfulness.

At the city level, Jaipur has seen substantial changes. Kunwar Rashtradeep, who will now be the Director General of Police's DIG (Personnel) and Head Staff Officer, has been replaced as Additional Commissioner (Crime) by Manish Kumar Agarwal. The North, South, East, West, Crime, Traffic, and Headquarters zones of Jaipur have also seen the reassignment of a number of Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs).

Rajesh Meena, the former IG of Udaipur, has been appointed IG of Jodhpur Range, and Sharat Kaviraj has been appointed IG of the Special Operations Group. There is continuity at the top of the capital's police leadership, as evidenced by the continued employment of Biju George Joseph as Commissioner of Police in Jaipur despite the extensive reorganization.

Although their precise responsibilities and districts have not been made public, 12 IAS officers have received new postings on the administrative side. 142 RAS officers are also part of the reshuffle, indicating a comprehensive effort to realign the state's administrative machinery.

“This reshuffle is a routine administrative step that aligns with the evolving governance needs of the state," said a senior official in the Department of Personnel. The goal of new hires is to improve service delivery while strengthening administrative and security frameworks.

Such large-scale transfers frequently occur after significant policy changes or changes in state leadership, according to political observers. The latest adjustments seem to be a part of the government's plan to improve the effectiveness of governance, expedite law enforcement, and get ready to launch welfare programs.

According to the state government, additional transfers, especially at the Additional Director General (ADG) level, are anticipated in the upcoming weeks, suggesting that this may be the first stage of a more extensive administrative realignment.
