Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has welcomed the firm backing Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given Ayurveda as a crucial initiative to push India's traditional medical system to a global level. She said that Delhi will play host to an important international conference on Ayurveda later in the year with a view to getting experts, practitioners, and policymakers from around the globe coming together. Gupta highlighted that under Modi’s leadership, Ayurveda has gained new respect and recognition, both in India and internationally, helping millions access natural and holistic healthcare.
She stressed that Ayurveda is not merely an ancient system but a science that supplements modern medicine by keeping preventive care and overall health at the center.
The international conference seeks to present India's vast Ayurvedic heritage, facilitate research and innovation, and accelerate its integration into mainstream healthcare systems globally. This event will further enhance Delhi as a hub of wellness and traditional medicine, said Gupta.
Rekha Gupta, who took over as Chief Minister of Delhi in February 2025, has been a key supporter of efforts that integrate contemporary governance with India's cultural heritage.
She had faith that the conference would spur greater collaboration between nations in Ayurveda and promote its benefits worldwide, in accordance with India's vision of healthcare for all.
Her announcement reflects the growing importance the Delhi government places on Ayurveda as part of its health and wellness agenda, inspired by PM Modi’s push for a healthier India through traditional knowledge and sustainable practices.
