The search and rescue operation continues for those still missing on the second day following the tragic bus accident.
A joint rescue operation is being conducted under the supervision and presence of district police, fire services, SDRF, DDRF, water police, and administrative and police officials.
During today’s ongoing search and rescue operation, one body has been recovered.
Following yesterday’s bus accident near Gholtir in Rudraprayag district, a joint rescue operation was launched this morning to search for the 9 individuals still reported missing. The operation is being carried out under the supervision of administrative and police officers by the district police, fire services, SDRF, DDRF, and water police. Search efforts are being conducted with the help of boats and sonar equipment in the Alaknanda River, from the accident site up to Srinagar, with watchers deployed at various points along the river.
During the continuous search and rescue operation, one body was found on the riverbank in the Ratura area. The body was brought to the roadside and transported to the Rudraprayag District Hospital by hearse.
Superintendent of Police, Rudraprayag, Akshay Pralhad Konde, informed that the recovered body has been identified as Sanjay Soni, aged 55, resident of Shastri Circle, Udaipur, Rajasthan. After the completion of the legal formalities and post-mortem, the body will be handed over to the family.
The search and rescue operation is ongoing to trace the remaining eight missing persons.
