Social media influencer Jyoti has been arrested on charges of smuggling several secret information of India to Pakistan. According to the police, the young woman, a resident of Haryana, had direct contact with the Pakistani spy agency ISI and several Pakistani agents. The entire investigation process in this incident has raised questions about the security of the country.
According to the Haryana Police, Jyoti was not only limited to smuggling information, but was also involved in the work of 'brainwashing' Indian citizens on behalf of Pakistan. She used social media to influence the common people of different parts of the country and create public opinion in favor of Pakistan. For this purpose, she also regularly contacted several other social media influencers. Detectives believe that attempts were being made to gradually involve them in the pro-Pakistan campaign.
Another sensational information has come to light during the investigation. Jyoti's next destination was Bangladesh. She had already submitted a visa application using an address in Uttara, Dhaka. Although the application did not mention any specific date, the detectives suspect that she wanted to flee to Bangladesh amid the recent tensions in Indo-Pak relations. The purpose was to secretly establish contact with Bangladeshi spies in the name of vlogging or creating video content.
It is learned that apart from India, Jyoti had frequent trips to China and several other foreign countries. The central detectives are also investigating the motive behind those trips. Currently, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) are jointly interrogating her. A thorough investigation is underway to determine whether there is any connection between the trips to various countries and Pakistan-backed organizations.
Although Jyoti has not yet given any clear information. Instead, when questioned by the detectives, she claims that her freedom of speech is being interfered with. It is also known that she is trying to mislead the investigators in a careless manner. Her mobile, laptop, and social media accounts have already been confiscated and sent for forensic examination.
A top intelligence official said, “This is a big international conspiracy beyond the boundaries of a social media influencer or a content creator. The primary goal now is to find out who else is involved in this incident.”
The Union Home Ministry has also taken a tough stance on this incident. The issue of how a state like Pakistan is trying to influence India using digital platforms is now being specially monitored. There are indications that the movements of social media users may also be brought under stricter surveillance in the future in the interest of national security.
If Pakistan carries out cyber-propaganda against India in this way under the guise of social media, then there is a risk of greater danger in the future – this is the opinion of security experts.
