In a fit of anger over a property issue, a son set his house on fire in which his 92-year-old father and 90-year-old mother were burnt alive yesterday morning.

The incident happened at Mannar near Thiruvalla in Kerala. Vijayan was arrested by the police soon and he confessed to the crime.

Vijayan had been fighting with his aged parents and siblings over the property for a long time.

Two days ago he had even assaulted his old parents in a fit of rage during a property dispute.

After the assault, the matter was reported to the police and they asked Vijayan to appear before them on Saturday.

Locals said he was furious over this and on Saturday morning, his neighbours saw smoke coming out of his house.

Though his neighbours rushed to the spot, they couldn’t save the aged parents who were surrounded by the fire and died in the blaze.

Vijayan was arrested soon and he has confessed to the crime.

Locals and neighbours are angry that the police despite getting a complaint about Vijayan’s misbehaviour towards his aged parents didn’t take action against him immediately.

Vijayan used to behave very rudely and was always in a combative mood most of the time. His neighbours and siblings used to avoid him most of the time.

Vijayan has confessed to pouring petrol in the house and setting it on fire. Police have registered a case and charged him with murder.

Soman, Vijayan’s relative and neighbour also confirmed this. Police are waiting for the forensic report. Police are questioning Vijayan. He will be produced before the court today.
