The Supreme Court of India has declared September 8, 2023 as a holiday in view of the G20 Summit.The summit will be hosted in Delhi from the 9th to the 10th of September.


The decision to declare a holiday was taken by the Chief Justice of India, D Y Chandrachud, considering the office memorandum of August 24 issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.


The G20 Summit is a yearly gathering of the heads of state and government of the world's 20 biggest economies. It is a forum for discussing international economic and financial concerns. The 2023 summit will be the first time that India will be hosting the G20 Summit.


The Supreme Court will remain closed on September 8, 2023, for all matters, including urgent matters. The registry of the Supreme Court will also remain closed on that day.
