The Bengaluru Police have finally arrested Srinivas, a notorious thief who has been roaming around in multiple states for 27 years. Srinivas, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, has 88 theft cases against him. Recently, he stole gold ornaments and cash worth about Rs 9.20 lakh from a house in Kodigehalli, Bengaluru. He was found during the investigation of that incident.
According to the police, Srinivas has been breaking into houses in various places in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka since 1998. Once, he worked as a technical worker in the Telugu film industry after graduating in mechanical engineering. But his addiction to gambling and luxurious life pushed him towards crime. The police also said that his siblings are working as professionals in the US and Australia.
On April 16, he noticed an empty house in the Balaji Layout area of Kodigehalli. He used a rod to break the door and enter and loot the property. As he left his fingerprints during the theft, the police were able to identify them from a case record from 2022. His identity was also confirmed by reviewing CCTV footage.
On May 2, the police arrested him near a paying guest house in Nagawara. Investigation revealed that he had committed another theft in the same area and had come to Bengaluru four days before the crime. The police recovered the stolen items from his accomplice's house in Mysuru.
Srinivas also has cases against him in Madhapur and Sarojini Nagar in Hyderabad, Bidar in Karnataka and Eluru in Andhra Pradesh. However, surprisingly, despite all this, the police said he has never been convicted. He is currently in judicial custody.
In a separate incident, the Kodigehalli police have arrested two youths, Rizwan Pasha and Krittik Pritam, for allegedly robbing a foreign national of Rs 1.60 lakh by threatening him with a knife.
The activities of the Bengaluru Police have repeatedly proven that even criminals who have been on the run for a long time can finally be brought to justice.
