04 June, 2025:
The second phase of the consecration ceremony at the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya has begun. Thousands of devotees gathered for the second day to witness the installation of idols of Lord Ram and his family. The three-day ceremony, which started on June 3, will end on June 5, which is also the occasion of Ganga Dussehra, an important day in the Hindu calendar.
According to officials from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, which is overseeing the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, consecration ceremonies will be held at eight temples located within the temple complex.
According to office bearers of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Lord Ram was consecrated in his child form during the first ceremony held on January 22 last year. “Now Lord Rama will be consecrated as a King in the second consecration,” they said.
The idols of Shiv, Ganpati, Hanuman, Surya, Bhagwati, Annapurna and Sheshavatar that are placed in the smaller shrines that encircle the main temple will also be consecrated on Thursday.
“The first day’s rituals on Tuesday started with panchang puja and hawan. It will conclude on June 5 on the auspicious occasion of Jayeshtha Shukla Paksh with the last puja to be conducted between 11.25am and 11.40am as per the advice of astrologers. Praveen Sharma and Indradev Acharya will be the main priests on the final day’s puja,” said a member of the trust.
Renowned scholar and priest from Chandauli, Jayprakash Tiwari, will lead the consecration of deities in all eight temples within the Ram Temple complex, along with 101 Vedic scholars. According to Dr. Anil Mishra, who will serve as the main “yajman” on the day of the ceremony, the rituals will be performed simultaneously across the temples.
Meanwhile the opposition alleged that the BJP government was trying to keep the euphoria around the shrine alive to derive maximum political mileage.
