Singapore ,May 28:Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, during a diplomatic outreach event in Singapore, strongly criticised Pakistan’s alleged links to terrorism.
As a member of the multi-party delegation representing India under the Operation Sindoor initiative, Banerjee highlighted the disturbing visuals that have surfaced — showing top Pakistani military officers attending funerals of individuals designated as “terrorists”.
Banerjee questioned while addressing the Indian community that “,What more evidence do we need when generals of the Pakistani Army are seen paying respects to declared terrorists? Where else in the world do you see such open support from a state’s military?”
He stressed on the need for public involvement, urging citizens to share such information widely via social media, calling platforms like X (formerly Twitter) “more effective than diplomatic notes” in shaping narratives.
While acknowledging his political opposition to the central government on domestic issues, Banerjee also reaffirmed his commitment to national unity on security matters.
“I may fight the government tooth and nail on policies, but on matters of national interest, we are all one. Our political ideologies cannot interfere with our nation's security,” he remarked .
The delegation, led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, also includes BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lala, Hemang Joshi, CPI(M) MP John Brittas, Congress veteran Salman Khurshid, and former diplomat Mohan Kumar. Their mission is to present India’s case against cross-border terrorism to global stakeholders, particularly after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack which claimed 26 lives.
