Srinagar,May 16,2025: On 15 May , Union Minister Rajnath Singh in his address at Badami Bagh cantt , Srinagar declared that India would henceforth consider any terrorist attack on its soil as an act of war. The announcement was done amid high tensions along the border and renewed apprehensions over cross-border terrorism.

He says “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has redefined India’s policy against terrorism which now says that any attack on an Indian soil will be considered as an act of war”.

Mr Singh asserted India’s determination to safeguard its national security and emphasises that government will take strong action when terror attacks are linked to adopt to state-sponsored activities.

“Any act of terror that inflicts harm on our citizens cannot be tolerated. Should evidence emerge that such attacks are orchestrated or facilitated from across our borders, we will treat it as an act of war,” Singh stated, reinforcing India’s commitment to zero tolerance on terrorism.

The minister’s remarks signal a potential recalibration of India’s strategic doctrine towards terrorism, indicating that the government might take direct military or diplomatic action if provocations are linked to the Pakistani state. “Our approach is clear and unambiguous. We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of our nation,” he further added.

Analysts highlights that this policy shift stresses on a broader regional dynamic of mistrust, in which indo Pakistani relations have long being stained by military activities and cross border incursions .Therefore, the government is expected to review its existing protocols for checking and responding to terror attacks, while also researching avenues for enhanced international cooperation against terrorism.

However, Pakistan’s response to these developments remains to be seen, although experts expect strong denials and calls for dialogue from Pakistani officials. With the stakes higher than ever, the international community will be monitoring closely as both the nations will navigate this fraught period in South Asian geopolitics.

As the situation unfolds, government officials have guaranteed that all actions will be measured in accordance with India’s broader strategic objectives, aiming both to prevent terrorism and to uphold regional harmony and stability.
