Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan - A great development for agriculture in India

Agriculture is the backbone of India's economy, employing over 50% of the workforce and contributing significantly to the country's GDP. It ensures food security, provides livelihoods for millions, and supports rural development. With a growing population exceeding 1.4 billion, India's agricultural sector plays a vital role in national stability and economic growth.


In a significant development, Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, recently addressed a press conference at the National Media Centre, New Delhi, to brief about the launch of the nationwide “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan”. This initiative, starting from May 29 to June 12, 2025, aims to realize the vision of a developed India under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.


The Minister emphasized that developed agriculture, modern farming practices, and prosperous farmers are essential for achieving this goal. Agriculture remains the backbone of the Indian economy, providing livelihood to nearly half of the population and underpinning national food security. The Ministry's primary objective is to ensure food security for India's 1.45 billion people while guaranteeing availability of nutritious food, improving farmer incomes, and conserving natural resources for future generations.


All these developments signal a very bright future for agriculture under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
