The death of 26 innocent people in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam has shaken India. After this incident, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, while addressing a cultural event in Delhi on Sunday, made it clear that "as you wish, so it will be" - this signal is clear, the country's defense system is ready to give a strong response this time.
Rajnath Singh said, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the country's security system is unbreakable. He knows how to take risks, and there is no compromise on the issue of the security of the people of the country." At the same time, the Defense Minister reminded that border security and protecting the country's honor are his main responsibilities and those who try to attack on Indian soil will be given a suitable lesson.
After this horrific attack, the Central Government has not only put pressure on Pakistan at the defense but also at the diplomatic level. Several major decisions have been taken -
The Attari Integrated Check Post (ICP) on the Punjab border has been closed.
The SAARC visa waiver scheme for Pakistani citizens has been suspended.
Pakistanis have been ordered to leave India within 40 hours.
The number of staff in the High Commissions of India and Pakistan has been reduced.
In addition, the 1960 Indus Water Treaty, which was in force for the distribution of water between the two countries for so long, has also been suspended.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also assured the countrymen after the attack, saying, “Those involved in this heinous attack will be punished in a way they cannot even imagine. The time has come to destroy the last bastions of terrorism inside and outside the country.”
He also said, “The determination of 1.3 billion Indians will break the back of terrorists this time.”
The Pahalgam attack is not just another terrorist attack—it is going to change the course of India’s security policy. This time, Delhi has adopted a strategy to put pressure on Pakistan not only in defense but also in diplomatic strategies. And at the heart of this strategy is—strong leadership, strong response, and giving top priority to the safety of the common man.
