West Bengal CM Meets at High-Level Border Security Conference Headed by Amit Shah

Kolkata/New delhi ; 7 May 2025


The Chief Minister of West Bengal participated in a high-level meeting today via video conferencing. The meeting was presided over by the Hon'ble Union Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, and was on India's border area security and development.


Chief Ministers and senior officers of the other border states also participated in the video conference. Review of the situation on India's international borders, enhanced coordination amongst states and central agencies, and further steps to enhance border security were the key agenda of the meeting.


At the meeting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also highlighted border safety as key to national security. He further addressed the need for enhanced infrastructure development in border villages, increased facilities for border security personnel, and prevention of illicit activities such as smuggling and infiltration.


The West Bengal CM presented the state of affairs regarding border management, particularly along the India-Bangladesh border. She also indicated the need to enhance the number of Border Outposts (BOPs), the development of local infrastructure, and focusing more on the needs of border-dwelling people.


The meeting called for improved cooperation and communication between the Centre and states. All the participants committed to taking immediate and effective measures to provide security and development to sensitive border areas.
