Youth Murdered with Pokeland Machine Bucket; Accused Nabbed by Pauri Police from Haryana

A youth was murdered following a verbal altercation regarding road clearance, and the accused has been arrested from Haryana.

Late Saturday night around 11:30 PM, Suman Devrani, accompanied by a friend, was travelling from Gumkhal to Satpuli. Near Malli Satpuli, road-cutting work was underway. An argument broke out between Suman and a Pokeland (JCB) operator over road clearance. During the altercation, the operator attacked Suman Devrani with the bucket of the Pokeland machine, leading to his death. The accused, identified as Praveen Singh, a resident of Joshimath, Chamoli, fled the scene immediately.

An FIR (Crime No. 06/2025, Section 103(1) BNS) was registered at Satpuli Police Station.

Taking the incident seriously, Pauri SSP Lokeshwar Singh directed the police to gather concrete evidence and arrest the accused at the earliest.

Under the supervision of Additional SP Kotdwar Chandramohan Singh and DySP Sadar Trivendra Singh Rana, multiple police teams were formed under the leadership of Satpuli SHO Jagmohan Singh Ramola. The teams collected vital evidence and conducted a forensic examination of the scene.

With the help of surveillance and manual policing, the accused Praveen Singh Barthwal was arrested from Yamunanagar, Haryana, on the night of June 9, 2025, within a few hours of the crime. The accused is being presented before the court for necessary legal proceedings.
