Holy Month of Ramazan: A Beautiful Weavings of Spirituality, Empathy, and Harmony

Fasting is merely an outward expression; Ramazan is an inward reflection of extreme spirituality, empathy, and harmony. Thus, it becomes the spiritual significance of devotion, compassion, and oneness. It is the most sacred avenue of self-cleansing, that makes one develop kindness toward the suffering sheep of Allah, because this is a fragile reminder of conjoinedness humanity shares.

At the central core of Ramazan is the notion of resourcing restraint and discipline. Fasting has physical and spiritual dimensions, at least purport is connected to the emergence of a stout spirit, capacity to endure, and peace within. It breaks our mental fetters and renders us free to transcend material desires into contemplation and gratefulness.

Ramazan, of course, is a name that bespeaks sympathy and thoughtfulness. For though he extends hunger lands a life-lesson upon one-rather deeply-in the continuous suffering of those who endure it. It is only that month where the act of donations comes in shape-whether it is zakat or such-when one cultivates its finest values of unselfishness and service to the needs of human society. The month when love flows into hearts, hands reach out, and compassion abounds.

Besides self-devotion, Ramazan also propagates harmony and unity. It breaks into pieces of all boundaries amongst man in common prayer, meditation, and shared values. It builds the ideals of brotherhood, wherein, in spite of all their diversities and differences, human beings are but one single family of God bonded together with love and mutual respect.

May the light of Ramazan illuminate our hearts, inspire us towards righteousness, and strengthen the bonds of peace and humanity.
