Iran and Russia have been dubbed as strategic partners since many decades by experts especially post Islamic revolution of Iran. Iran on its part through drone technology has greatly helped Russia in its war against China. Russia too had helped Iranian efforts in Syria for over a decade.
But now this strong relationship seems to be collapsing. The feel is that Russia didn't do much in recent Iran Israel 12 Day war.
Iran has started to question its friend Russia over the role it played.
Iran blasted Russia recently.
Ali Motahari, Deputy of the Iranian Majlis:
Russia's refusal to sell S-400 systems and failure to deliver Su-35 jets to Iran, despite the support Iran provided, highlight Moscow's lack of willingness to back Tehran.
The 12-day war with Israel further exposed Russia's reluctance to support Iran.
The expert pulse is that recent war between Iran and Israel has laid bare a truth long obscured by Kremlin bluster: Russia is no longer a superpower. Moscow’s muted response to Tehran’s plight is not an anomaly but the latest – and perhaps most telling – chapter in a pattern of strategic neglect that stretches from the Middle East to the Levant and South Caucasus.
Pertinent to mention this is blow to any future China Russia lead block.
Undoubtedly, the once strong Iran Russia alliance is showing signs of weakness.
