Former cricketer and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir has spoken about his relationship with Virat Kohli, saying that the two share a friendly bond and that rumors of a rift were exaggerated for TRP (television rating points).
In recent years, there has been much media speculation about tension between the two, especially after a heated on-field moment during an IPL match. However, in a recent interview, Gambhir dismissed all such claims.
“We are friends. People said a lot of things just to create drama and increase TRP. There's nothing wrong between us,” he said.
Gambhir also added that the viral clips and stories shown on TV were often taken out of context. He stressed that disagreements on the field are normal in sports and should not be blown out of proportion.
He praised Kohli’s achievements and called him one of the greatest cricketers of the modern era. Gambhir said he respects Kohli both as a player and a person.
The former India opener also urged the media to act more responsibly and not spread false narratives for entertainment.
This clarification comes as both Gambhir and Kohli continue to make headlines — one in politics, the other in cricket — and fans have often wondered about their off-field relationship.
