Bangladesh pacer sidelined amid IPL injury; Khaled Ahmed named replacement

Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rehman has been ruled out from an upcoming T20I series against Pakistan after sustaining a left thumb fracture during an IPL 2025 match between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The injury occurred while attempting a caught-and-bowled off Australian batsman Josh Inglis.

Bangladesh team physio Delowar Hossain has confirmed that the seamer will require two to three weeks of rest and rehabilitation. “We will reassess after two weeks to monitor his recovery,” he stated .

Khaled Ahmed, who impressed in the domestic circuit with 20 wickets in the Bangladesh Premier League, replaces Mustafizur.

Bangladesh’s squad has already seen multiple changes, with Nahid Rana and Soumya Sarkar also pulling out due to personal and injury reasons, respectively.

The three-match series will begin on May 28 in Lahore.
