In the fourth Test, the Indian cricket team wasn’t just battling the opposition on the field but also confronting pressure, the shadow of past failures, and a controversial "strategic proposal." England had set a massive total in Manchester, declaring at 669 all out, putting India firmly on the back foot. India's first innings ended at 345, trailing by 324 runs. From there began the true tale of Indian resilience in the second innings.

Shubman Gill laid the foundation of the fightback with a composed century. What followed was an unbroken century partnership between Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, who stayed unbeaten till the end, crushing all of England’s hopes for a win. India’s second innings concluded at 425/4. The Indian batting line-up not only scored runs but also battled time, combining both efforts to ensure survival.

However, an off-field moment turned the match into the centre of global cricketing discussion. On the final day, England captain Ben Stokes offered Indian player “handshake draw” a mutual agreement to end the match early. India flatly refused.

This sparked intense debate in the cricketing world. Indian coach Gautam Gambhir called the offer a “tactical drama.” He stated, “We do not know how to give up. We have saved this match with our blood, sweat, and effort. If someone offers us a draw out of sympathy, that’s an insult to the honour of Indian cricket.”

This response clearly reflected the Indian team’s confidence and pride. According to analysts, for a team to save a match after trailing by such a huge margin in the first innings and losing only two wickets in the second is not just about runs it is a shining example of mental strength and resilience.

The draw was a huge achievement for India. It wasn’t just about avoiding defeat it was a milestone that will inspire and energise the team for the future. At the same time, the "handshake" controversy raised questions about England’s tactical mindset, exposing an attempt to psychologically subdue the opposition.

Now, all eyes are on the fifth and final Test. The mentality of both teams, their batting depth, and the leadership strategies will face the ultimate test in the decider. While the Manchester Test ended in a draw by result, in terms of cricketing spirit and honour, India emerged victorious and now it’s time to prove that on an even grander scale.
