Mizoram Finish Group D Unbeaten at Swami Vivekananda U20 National Championship

Narainpur (Chhattisgarh), May 21 2025: Mizoram wrapped up their Group D campaign in the Swami Vivekananda U20 Men’s National Football Championship with a flawless record, defeating Jharkhand 3-1 on Tuesday at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Ground.


Having already booked a quarter-final berth, the North-East side asserted their dominance once more with early goals from PC Pazawna in the 4th minute and John Lalrinawma in the 11th. 


Ngurthanmawia added the third late in the 87th minute. Jharkhand pulled one back through Birbal Mohli in the 38th minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse.


Mizoram topped Group D with a perfect 12 points, followed by Maharashtra with nine, Tripura with six, Jharkhand with three, and Himachal Pradesh finishing without a point.


In the other Group D clash, Maharashtra edged past Tripura 2-0 in a tightly contested affair. After a goalless first half, Kshitij Maral opened the scoring in the 62nd minute, and Eashan Sartape sealed the win in stoppage time with a well-placed finish.


Meanwhile ,Punjab finished top of Group C with nine points.


Therefore Mizoram will face Punjab in the quarter-final on Friday.
