Suhl, Germany, May 23 2025:Indian shooter Raiza Dhillon delivered an impressive performance at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2025, securing a silver medal in the women’s skeet event held in Suhl, Germany.
The 21-year-old showcased her skill and consistency by hitting 51 out of 60 targets in the final round, finishing just behind Great Britain’s Phoebe Bodley-Scott, who claimed the gold with a score of 53. Bodley-Scott’s win marks her second gold in this event at Suhl, having previously triumphed at the same venue three years ago. Germany’s Annabella Hettmer earned the bronze medal with a score of 38.
Dhillon had earlier qualified for the six-woman final by placing second in the qualification round with a strong score of 116.
Other Indian shooters in the women’s skeet event included Vanshika Tiwari (109), Yashasvi Rathore (106), and Mohika Sisodiya (100), who finished 15th, 19th, and 28th respectively.
In the men’s skeet qualifiers, Harmehar Singh Lally narrowly missed a place in the final, finishing seventh with a score of 117 — just one spot short of qualification. Teammates Zorawar Singh Bedi (112), Ishaan Singh Libra (111), Jyotiraditya Singh Sisodiya (110), and Atul Singh Rajawat (105) ranked 29th, 35th, 38th, and 54th, respectively.
India also missed out on a medal opportunity in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. Urva Chaudhary and Chirag Sharma finished fifth in the qualifiers with a score of 576-14x, narrowly edged out by Italy’s Alessandra Fait and Francesco Rutigliani, who scored the same total but had one more bullseye to claim the fourth spot.
With three medals — one gold and two silvers — India currently leads the overall medal standings at the event. Adriyan Karmakar, son of London 2012 Olympian Joydeep Karmakar, contributed to the tally with silver in the men’s 50m rifle prone event, while Kanak secured India’s gold in the women’s 10m air pistol.
The Indian team has sent a 57-member squad to compete in Suhl, demonstrating depth and promise across multiple shooting disciplines.
