Rinku Singh Recalls Dhoni's advice, shares role in IPL 2025

Kolkata: Rinku Singh also had a tough IPL 2025, managing only 133 runs in eight matches. He has been one of the season's underperformers, and that was evident in KKR's performance, who are currently seventh in the IPL points table. Another loss in the tournament can put an end to their hopes to make it to the playoffs. The Knight Riders will next play Punjab Kings at home, Eden Gardens.

Ahead of the clash, Rinku opened up on his role in the ongoing season. He mentioned of taking up the role of a finisher and that could be one of the reasons behind him batting low down the order on a few occasions. He also shared MS Dhoni’s advice of being calm and noted the importance of fitness.

"I tend to bat at No. 5 or 6 — I've done that for UP and in the IPL, so I'm accustomed to it. I pay a lot of attention to fitness because with 14 matches in the IPL, it's my job to keep my body in good shape and recover well. I also talk to Mahi Bhai a lot — he asks me to remain calm and play as per the situation of the match.". Things fall into place when you remain calm," said Rinku during an interview exclusively with JioHotstar.

Rinku also spoke about the chances of crossing the 300-run mark in the current season. In the previous season of the tournament, SRH came close, scoring 287 runs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. 

In 2025, teams were supposed to play in the same template, but the conditions have been different and for the same reason, high-scoring matches have not been witnessed. However, Rinku expects that any one of the teams is capable of going past 300 in the 18th season of the IPL.
