Rishabh Pant on the Verge of Breaking Rohit Sharma’s WTC Record Ahead of Fourth Test

As the fourth Test of the India-England series approaches, all eyes are on Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant. With his consistent and fearless performances, Pant is now on the verge of breaking a major record held by none other than India’s captain, Rohit Sharma.

Rohit currently holds the record for the most runs scored by an Indian player in the World Test Championship (WTC). However, Pant is now dangerously close to overtaking that milestone. In fact, Pant has already broken multiple records in this series. He surpassed MS Dhoni's record for most Test runs by an Indian wicketkeeper in England, matched Rohit Sharma’s six-hitting feats, and even went past a long-standing record held by cricket legend Vivian Richards.

What makes Pant’s performance even more remarkable is that he is batting with a finger injury. Despite the setback, he continues to play aggressively, providing strength to India’s middle order and fearlessly countering England’s bowling attack.

Rohit Sharma has already stepped away from red-ball cricket. So if Pant plays another impactful innings in the fourth Test, he could become India’s top run-scorer in WTC history—eclipsing Rohit’s record.

The fourth Test begins on July 23 at Old Trafford in Manchester. For India, it’s not just about leveling the series, but also witnessing another potential historic milestone from Rishabh Pant’s bat.
