Rory McIlroy to Make India Debut at DP World India Championship

New Delhi, May 22 2025 :In a significant boost for Indian golf, global superstar Rory McIlroy has confirmed his participation in the upcoming DP World India Championship. The $4 million event, part of the DP World Tour, will be held at the prestigious Delhi Golf Club from October 16 to 19, marking McIlroy’s first competitive appearance in India.

The Northern Irishman, who secured his career Grand Slam earlier this year by winning the 2025 Masters, is widely regarded as one of the sport’s modern greats. His major tally includes victories at the US Open (2011), PGA Championship (2012, 2014), and The Open (2014), culminating in his Masters triumph in April.

Speaking about his upcoming trip, McIlroy expressed both excitement and anticipation. He stated “I’m really looking forward to teeing it up in India for the first time and experiencing a country I’ve long wanted to visit,”

He further added that “It’s a privilege to be part of the inaugural DP World India Championship. I’ve always enjoyed playing around the world and believe India has immense potential to grow the game. It will be fantastic to play in front of Indian fans.”
