Servin Sebastian Clinches Bronze in Men’s 20km Race Walk, Opens India’s Medal Tally at Asian Athletics Championships
On Tuesday, Servin Sebastian earned India its first medal at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships by securing bronze in the men's 20km race walk .
The 25-year-old athlete posted an impressive time of 1:21:13.60, narrowly missing his personal best of 1:21:23 set during the Uttarakhand National Games in February.
Sebastian finished third in a competitive field, trailing behind China’s Wang Zhaozhao, who claimed gold with a time of 1:20:36.90, and Japan’s Kento Yoshikawa, who clocked 1:20:44.90 to take silver.
Another Indian participant, Amit, ended the race in fifth place, recording a time of 1:22:14.30.
India has sent a 59-member squad to the championships and aims to surpass its previous tally of 27 medals from the last edition.
