Nitish Kumar Reddy has used the Indian Premier League (IPL) connection to better prepare himself for his first Test tour of England. Despite being an all-rounder, he did not perform well, especially with the ball, in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy held in Australia. So he understood that if he wanted to retain his place in the team, he would have to make some changes for the England tour.
Before the series, he sought advice from Sunrisers Hyderabad captain and Australian pacer Pat Cummins, who told him that the weather was a big issue in England. Speaking to reporters on this issue, Nitish Reddy said, "I just asked him (Pat Cummins) what the difference is between Australia and England, because this is my first tour of England." He said it's not a big change, but you have to pay attention to the weather and focus on your game.
Nitish then added, "He also said, since I will be playing two matches for the 'India A' team, try to learn as much as possible." Then you can adapt as you wish.' Reddy also said that he had extensive discussions on this issue with India's bowling coach Morne Morkel.
Nitish said, "I have also spoken to Moran a lot. My bowling is improving well and I am enjoying working with him a lot." He said that after the Australia tour, he promised himself that he would improve his bowling. Medium pacer Reddy showed his improvement on the first day of the third Test on Thursday. On the first day of the third Test against England, he put pressure on the opposition by dismissing both England openers, Ben Duckett and Jack Crawley, in his first over.
Nitish Kumar Reddy further said, "After the Australia tour, I felt that I had to improve my bowling. My goal now is to achieve consistency." It goes without saying how much importance he placed on planning and preparation behind this success. Nitish Kumar Reddy's progress and success prove once again that taking advice from experienced players and preparing properly can turn the career of any young player around.
