If iPhone is made in America, the price could increase three times, say experts

President Donald Trump's dream is for Apple to make iPhones entirely in America. But if that dream comes true, the price of iPhone, which is currently around $1,000, could rise to $3,000! This is what market experts are claiming.

Recently, Trump urged Apple CEO Tim Cook to reduce the India-based production plan and shift Apple to manufacturing in the US. However, now 80% of Apple's production is done in China and about 5 million people work in this process. Apple is gradually looking to shift this production to countries like India and Vietnam, so that a diverse and stable supply chain can be developed.

In this context, MCCIA Director General Prashant Girban told ANI, "If Apple manufactures iPhones in America, compared to China, India or Vietnam, then the price of a $1,000 phone will be $3,000. The question is, will American consumers accept that?"

Apple has already manufactured iPhones worth over $22 billion in India. It has three manufacturing plants in the country, with two more planned. TEMA Chairman NK Goel said, "If Apple stops manufacturing in India, it will be a huge loss for them. Because tariff restrictions and rules are changing rapidly around the world."

Former KPMG partner Jaideep Ghosh also warned that iPhone production in India reached ₹1.75 lakh crore in FY 2025. Leaving this market will not only hurt Apple, but also India's jobs.

According to experts, manufacturing in the US not only means higher costs, but also the possibility of losing competitiveness in the long run. As a result, it is believed that Apple will continue to stay in India with its commercial acumen.
