In an exclusive interview with Rameez Makhdoomi emerging face of Srilanka Dilushii Sandaroshi talks on diverse topics.

She is a multi talented person.

Tell us few things about your early days?

Well i would like to state that my name is Dilushi Sandaroshi. I was born in Sri Lanka and grew up there. My family consists of four members: father, mother, brother, and myself. I'm the only one who was fond of dancing in my family. I began dancing since I was a kid, and I got good attention from others even in my early days. I was passionate about dancing from childhood, and I had a nice childhood.

What about your academic journey?

It is a good question.

Well, When talking about my academic life, I went to St. Andrews College, Puttalam, for my primary education. After passing the scholarship exam, I went to Dankotuwa Girls' College. There, I engaged in several extracurricular activities like sports, music, dancing, dramas, and almost in everything, I was able to show my talents. I got several victories in all-island dancing and drama competitions. Even I got a great opportunity to travel to India for a dancing competition when I was 16. I went through my A/Ls with dancing and later finished my degree at the University of Kelaniya. Meanwhile, I was selected as one of the main and active members in the National Youth Service Council and Sri Lanka Youth Special Dancing Group. There, I could participate in several concerts even in India, Oman, and Dubai. Currently, I'm working as a dancing teacher and, at the same time, I'm a professional dancer.

It is intresting to note how you manage multiple talents?

Even though I'm a dancer by profession, I really like acting and modeling since my childhood. So, when I have free time, I do acting in dramas and films, and also, I engage in photoshoots that suit me. I do those things as my leisure time activities.

Throw some light on your entertainment journey especially its beginning ?

I was really lucky that my first dancing teacher was Kusum teacher, and later I was taught by several dancing teachers. I think today, I have become a dancing teacher and a dancer like this only because of them. As I told you, I really liked acting too. So, I got a chance from Mrs. Biguni and D.O.P. Mr. Sadeep Prasanna. And also, I was lucky enough to have a chance to act in an Indian future film, and after that, I got several chances to act in Sri Lankan teledramas. So, I must be thankful to them. And also, my first photoshoot was done by the photographer Mr. Asitha Geethanjana as an invitation of Mrs. Randi and Mrs. Shani of Salon Randi. So, I must be grateful to each and everyone who helped me throughout this journey.

What about your dance journey?

You have to understand as I talk about my dancing journey, I have been working in this field as a dancer for more than 20 years. As a teacher and a dancer, I love to do new things but always maintain my standard. However, I have a dancing group named Dilushii Dance Troupe. And I really want to do more things to develop Sri Lankan traditional dance. And also, I still help my thousands of students who were taught by me to be successful in their dancing journey. That happiness cannot be brought by anything.

Throw light on your aspirations?

My true aspirations are to serve more in traditional dancing as a dancer and a teacher locally and internationally. And also, I want to improve my talents in acting, modeling, and dancing fields, and I wish to have more opportunities to show my talents locally and internationally.

Your message to the World?

We should ponder that we should recognize ourselves first. We must know who we are. Then only we can identify our talent. In simple words, if we know our capability, we start feeling the value of ourselves. So then we can show our value to the world too.
