New Delhi, May 21 2025:The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has appointed Naushad Moosa as the head coach of the India U-23 men’s national football team. Moosa will take charge from June 1, ahead of the team’s preparatory camp in Kolkata.
The appointment is a part of the AIFF’s long-term roadmap for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. India’s U23 side will face Tajikistan and Kyrgyz Republic in friendly fixtures on June 18 and 21 respectively in Dushanbe.
AIFF Deputy Secretary General Satyanarayan M highlighted the importance of increased international exposure for players not getting enough game time with their clubs.
He stated “We are grateful to clubs, particularly NorthEast United FC, for supporting this effort by releasing Moosa.”
Moosa, who previously led the U23s against Malaysia, expressed his pride and optimism. “It’s an honour to lead the team again. We aim to build on the foundation laid last year and push further this season,” he further added.
India U23s will now also participate in the AFC U23 Asian Cup Qualifiers later this year. The draw is scheduled for May 29 in Kuala Lumpur.
