Kulgam, Dec 31:The strategically important Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) passing through Qazigund has been placed under stringent security arrangements to maintain law and order and to thwart any potential anti-national activities.
As part of the intensified security measures, extensive checking and frisking of vehicles is being carried out at multiple points. All types of vehicles, including private and commercial ones, are being thoroughly inspected to ensure the safety and security of commuters and the general public.
The security operation is being led from the front by the SHO Qazigund and the Duty Officer (DO) Navyug Tunnel, under the close supervision of the ASP Highway and SDPO Qazigund. The heightened vigilance is being conducted in compliance with the directions of SSP Kulgam, Anayat Ali Choudhary.
Officials stated that the proactive measures aim to strengthen surveillance on the vital highway stretch, maintain strict law and order, and effectively foil any attempt to disturb peace in the area. Police have appealed to commuters to cooperate during checking procedures, assuring that the steps are purely precautionary and in the interest of public safety.
