Lucknow tightens security for ‘Alvida Namaz’, 10K officers deployed across UP

As the ‘Azaan-Hanuman Chalisa loudspeaker” controversy is gaining momentum in the country, Islamic Centre of India Head and Imam of Aishbagh Eidgah, Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahali, has urged people to refrain from disrupting peace and, also, follow Covid-19 protocols.

Authorities have enhanced the security measures in Uttar Pradesh’s capital city Lucknow for the last Friday prayers of the holy month of Ramadhan, ‘Alvida Namaz’.
the mosques in the city will offer the ‘Alvida namaz’ after a two years gap. In the past, when the country was grappling with sky-high Covid-19 cases, only five people were permitted to offer prayers in a group.

UP police have deployed around 10,000 officers, including Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), around the state. Prashant Kumar, the additional director general of police, law, and order, said, “We’ve identified 2,846 vulnerable spots where central paramilitary forces will be stationed with district police units,"

Mosques across the city, both big and small, are all set to host the 'Alvida namaz'. Authorities have also cleaned up the area around the mosques. To protect the devotees from the scorching heat, tents and canopies have been installed.
